International accreditation advisory

A clear plan for your ASIC journey.

ASIC assesses education providers through an international quality assurance process. NACG helps institutions organize their readiness work, connect academic and operational evidence, and prepare for the next stage of review.

How the international process works

The international and UK routes are distinct. The overview below follows ASIC’s international process.

01

Application review

ASIC reviews the submitted application and supporting material; a self-evaluation may be requested. Gaps can lead to further development work or consideration of candidacy.

02

Inspection

The review normally includes two inspection parts covering leadership, facilities, resources and educational delivery. Staff and students may be interviewed and teaching observed. For new providers, the parts may be separated.

03

Report and decision

An inspector prepares the report for the Accreditation Committee. The committee makes the decision; the institution receives the outcome directly from ASIC.

A pathway for new university founders

ASIC states that newly operating institutions without students can apply. A successful initial inspection can lead to interim accreditation for up to one year. The appropriate starting point may instead be candidacy or membership, depending on the institution’s development.

NACG helps founders separate legal authorization, academic readiness and quality assurance into practical workstreams, with clear responsibilities and evidence to prepare at each stage.

Eight areas of institutional quality

ASIC reviews eight areas of operation. Our preparation work can organize evidence around each area, using the current standards appropriate to your provider.

01 / Governance and staff
02 / Internal quality improvement
03 / Administrative systems
04 / Teaching and research
05 / Qualifications and awards
06 / Student care
07 / Facilities and safety
08 / Recruitment and marketing

What NACG’s advisory work includes

  • Initial readiness review and a coordinated development roadmap.
  • Support to organize application materials, self-evaluation and institutional evidence.
  • Policy, catalog, governance and quality-system preparation.
  • Preparation of academic teams for inspection discussions.
  • Coordination of responses to findings and improvement priorities.
  • Support across interim and full accreditation milestones.

Keep the outcome precise

ASIC accreditation does not confer or validate degree-awarding powers. State licensing, degree authorization, U.S. federal recognition and other approvals must be considered separately. ASIC’s committee determines accreditation outcomes.

Review timing and fees depend on the institution, its readiness and ASIC’s arrangements. Obtain the current fee proposal directly from ASIC before planning an application.
